Mrs. Laura Tew

Guidance Counselor

My name is Laura Tew and I am excited and blessed to be a part of the Geneva County family. 

My educational career began 18 years ago and has included teaching in grades K - 8th in the surrounding county and city school systems.  Currently I’m in my second-year as a school counselor, and I'm passionate about helping students navigate their educational and personal journeys. I am committed to fostering an environment where students can thrive academically and personally.

I hold a Bachelor's degree from Troy University in Elementary Education, a Master’s in ESL from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a Post-Master’s certification in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. My diverse experience allows me to connect with students from all walks of life, guiding them toward success in and out of the classroom.

When I’m not working, I’m at home with my wonderful husband and our five children, juggling the joys of family life and fostering. We love traveling, especially to our favorite Universal Theme Parks, and enjoy spending quality time together. We are also deeply involved in youth ministry at our church, where we invest in the lives of young people. In my downtime, you’ll find me reading, crafting, or baking—activities that help me recharge. 

I want all my students to know that education is a lifelong journey, full of endless possibilities to learn and grow. Each day is a new opportunity to make meaningful choices, and no matter what challenges we face, we can always decide to learn and use those experiences to shape a brighter future. I’m excited to be part of this journey with you and look forward to supporting your growth and success!
